Happy Sunday lovely people! So last week in my Valentine’s makeup look, I used a lot of the shades in my new(ish) Kat Von D Chrysalis palette. It was love at first sight for me with this palette. Every single shade looked amazing, and I just had to have it! Since I used it in last weeks’ post, I wanted to give you a full review on it, with swatches, so you can see exactly what else this palette has to offer.

Firstly, the packaging is next level gorgeous. It feels luxurious, expensive, and special, it looks amazing, with that signature KVD style that I love so much, and the mirror is really nice too.

So onto the inside of the palette and you get 12 good sized shadows, 3 base or highlight shades and 9 colours to mix and match with. I’ve swatched every one of them, and used most of them already and all of them are so buttery and soft and silky that it honestly took me by surprise to begin with. I was also totally caught out by the pigmentation – I loaded my brush up as I would with any other eyeshadow and had to clean my brush and blend for what felt like hours because I’d used far too much product!

In all honesty, I’m kicking myself for not trying KVD shadows before now. All the reviews I’ve ever read about them have been glowing and I should have bought some sooner. I don’t think I’ve ever had such blendable shadows before, and the colours are insane. Below are swatches of the whole palette; the lighter shades obviously don’t show up as well on my super pale skin, but they are gorgeous as highlight or base shades and really easy to work with.

  • Great colours
  • Super pigmentation
  • Really buttery & blendable
  • No fall out
  • Large pans

  • After a few hours wear, they do fade a bit
  • The blue shades do crease on my lids a little (could be fixed with a shadow primer though I think)

Verdict: Kat Von D is fast becoming my favourite higher end makeup brand. Other than the huge bonus of being cruelty free and vegan, her range just seems to be well thought out and incredibly well made. Even with a little creasing and fading, these are still some of the best shadows I’ve ever tried, and I know I’ll use all the colours again and again. 10/10, would definitely recommend for anyone wanting some of the most amazing eyeshadows available in their kit!
