Oh how I’ve waited for this! Ever since Kat Von D launched her cosmetic range I’ve been desperate to try it. With it recently being launched in the UK (thank you Debenhams!) I was finally able to order some products without paying huge customs and tax fees.
Of course, living on an island and having the nearest Debenhams 2 hours away, and smaller than most, I wasn’t able to see the products IRL before purchasing them (my ‘local’ Debenhams doesn’t have a KVD stand), so after much Googling and a bit of a gamble, I settled on the Lock It Concealer in shade Light Neutral 01 and the translucent Lock It Setting Powder. I honestly had no idea if the concealer would be a good shade for me.
So, let’s start with the powder. Regular readers will know I love my Coty Airspun lose powder, but when I went to repurchase it, the price has been raised pretty substantially from £11 to £18. I figured if I was going to spend that much on a powder, I may as well try one that’s cruelty free and has a more neutral undertone to it. I find the Coty a little too pink for me. The Lock It powder is £20, which isn’t too bad considering the amount of product you get for it, the packaging is stunning, and the ingredients are lovely. This powder is really finely milled and feels like a cloud! Set everything beautifully and my makeup lasted all day when I’ve used this.
The Lock It concealer is the same price as the powder, but all the reviews I’ve read say a little goes a very long way, and I found this to be very true. So good value I think. Again the packaging is gorgeous, and feels very expensive. Formula wise the concealer is a little thinner than I thought it would be, but it’s still thick enough to be really full coverage and it blends to total perfection. Colour wise, I got very lucky and the shade is pretty much perfect for me.
Here’s a little before and after of both products to really show what they can do as a pair:
Verdict: £40 is a lot of money, and may seem too much to some, but I love these products. They cover well, wear well, don’t crease or move, and last all day. For the amount of product I use on a day to day basis, the money is very good value. I use the tiniest amount each morning and I can safely say it’s more than enough. Will most definitely be buying more from the Lock It range and can’t wait to try other products from the brand too! 10/10 thank you Kat Von D for including more extremes of complexion in your range!
