As promised, I’m returning to my High End vs. High Street series with a second post about mascaras. And this week I really went for mascaras that are marketed as volumisers because I find having long but sparse lashes, I always need extra punch to my masacaras.
I chose to compare a couple of favourites of my Mum’s. She’s raved about both these mascaras at one time or another, so I thought it would be fun to put them side by side and see if the high street can take on the designer for a second time.

Honestly, never having used the L’Oreal before, I’m disappointed. £9.99 for this mascara is by no means the cheapest high street product around, and it’s not worth that price at all. The house of Dior knock it out of the park with their DIORSHOW range, and the Iconic Overcurl is amazing. It’s really black, really volumising, and applies beautifully. The L’Oreal is thin, weak on pigment, and entirely lacking in any punch at all. There are cheaper high street mascaras (see my first post in this series) that’ll do a much better job.
So, there we have it – I’m not saying spend £25.00 on a designer mascara, but I will say don’t waste a tenner on the L’Oreal if you’re looking for a high street mascara!
