This week marks the start of my new series of posts – High End vs. High Street! Every few weeks I’ll be reviewing and comparing one drug store product and it’s high end counterpart, in the hopes of finding that sometimes the cheaper option is the best. There’s 2 posts about mascara, because it’s a favourite product of mine. I’ve scored each out of ten on volume, length, colour, and value for money.
In this first post I’m comparing and scoring Mac Cosmetics Gigablack Lash and Maybelline’s Lash Sensational. Check below to see which one I found to be the best! (Side note: no, I don’t wear lash extensions!)

So there we go, a tiny margin but the High Street product just beats out the high end this time! What I love about the Lash Sensational is that it dries soft, which makes building it up really easy and it doesn’t clump as much as the Mac. And at over £7.00 cheaper, it’s even more impressive that it does better than a high end product. The Mac Gigablack is great, don’t get me wrong, but the Maybelline just has that extra punch (probably due to the fact that it’s “lash multiplying” so it really does make your lashes look thicker).
In last week’s post, I mentioned that my beauty therapist asked if I was wearing falsies, and it was the Maybelline Lash Sensational that I was wearing. That’s never happened while wearing the Mac, so Maybelline are obviously doing something very very right and at a really great price too. I picked mine up in my local pharmacy, but being a High Street product it’s available just about anywhere in the UK.
The above photo shows what a minimal difference there is between the two products, but the length of my lashes is quite significantly different between them. The Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara has kicked off my High End vs. High Street with a shocking solid victory over the more expensive brands!
